Give yourself some credit

“Sometimes its ok to give yourself a little credit-” Pastor Joan E. Whittaker

We are taught humility is sign of maturity and ….well often talking  about yourself is seen as a sign of hubris, immodesty, and just honestly plain annoying. We all know at least one person who can’t stop talking about what they’ve done, where they’ve been, and how much they’ve accomplished. They can be really obnoxious.

HOWEVER,  I was reminded recently that sometimes its ok to sing your own praises. Its ok to cut yourself some slack. Give yourself credit for all you’ve done and how far you’ve come.  It’s ok to remind yourself of how great you really are and how you got over. Often we need sit down and have a little face time with the mirror and reflect.  It’s so easy to look at others and say, “wow, they’re doing so great,”and quickly forget how great you’re doing. Don’t neglect or reject your process because its meant to fashion the best version of You.

Life can present some pretty interesting situations. Testing our character, strength, and integrity every set of the way. With these tests we are all asked to choose. The right answer, the right path, and the right direction. And when we do make the right choice, over and over again sometimes its ok talk about it.

Without realizing we beat ourselves up about things from our past and totally disregard and dismiss the wonderful, even amazing things we have accomplished.

So I challenge you to stop for a moment and really think about how brilliant you are and how many great things are in store. Take it a step further and make a list of all the things you have done in your life that made you proud. It can be anything: a goal you set and accomplished, a task you started and completed, anything that will remind you that things are never truly as bad as they seem. Those low moments pass quickly when you see how high you’ve been, metaphorically speaking of course.

MY Directive: go tell someone about all the wonderful things you’re doing, you just might inspire the next big thing.
